Halifax, NS -- The Halifax Hurricanes are pleased to announce the signing of Renaldo Dixon for the 2016-17 season.

Renaldo Dixon was born in Toronto, Ontario and spent three years at Central Tech (Toronto) averaging 19 points and 9 rebounds per game. He played one season with the Christian Faith Academy in Creedmor, North Carolina before attending New Mexico State (2010-2015). Dixon played four years with the Aggies and attended the NCAA Tournament from 2012 to 2015. In his senior year, the highly skilled forward shot 54% from the field and averaged 8.5 points per game. He went on to play pro ball in Germany for a few months before returning to Canada and signing with the Hurricanes in February of this year.

"Late last season he played a huge role for Coach Lopez," noted Hurricanes Coach Kevin Keathley. "He was relied on heavily during the playoffs and excelled in whatever role he was given throughout the year."

The 6'10', 210lb forward was a powerhouse on the floor for the Hurricanes and was a key ingredient of the championship winning team. Dixon quickly gained admiration in Halifax and fans will be thrilled for his return.

"When you talk about one of the top Canadian Big men in NBL last season Renaldo has to be mentioned in the conversation," continued Keathley. "Renaldo is my type of player, he can play either post position and he will work well within our fast breaking system. He's going to give us an added dynamic in the paint."
