
Hurricanes Sweep Storm and Advance to Conference Finals

Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club defeated the Island Storm 91-83 in third and final game of the first round in NBL Canada playoff action May 8th, at the Eastlink Centre. Hurricanes sweep the Island Storm in the 5 game series, 3-0 and advance to the Conference Finals against the Saint John Mill Rats.
Hurricanes and the Storm were even after the first quarter at 21-21. In the second quarter the Hurricanes outscored the Storm 22-18, and the Hurricanes lead 43-39 at halftime. In the third quarter the Hurricanes outscored the Storm 22-20. The Hurricanes outscored the Storm 26-24 in the final quarter, enough to earn them the victory; The final score of the game was 91-83.
Guard, Justin Johnson the Hurricanes with 19 points. Guard, Joel Friesen scored 18 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Center, Kyle Hunt scored 14 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. Forward, Mike Glover scored 14 and grabbed 10 rebounds. Guard, Cliff Clinkscales scored 10 points and had 7 assists.
Guard, Terry Thomas led all scorers with 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. Center, Chad Posthumus scored 13 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Forward, Brian Addison scored 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Forward, Tirrell Baines scored 10 points in the loss.
