Hurricanes Snap out of Funk But Still Fall to Lightning After 20-Point Comeback

LONDON, ON - The Halifax Hurricanes refused to be blown out again. The Hurricanes fell 100-99 in a heartbreaking loss after rallying back after trailing the London Lightning by as much as 20 points on Thursday.
It's the Hurricanes third-straight loss as they round finish their second of three games in Ontario in their late-season road trip.
After being blown out by the Island Storm on Monday and the Windsor Express on Wednesday, the Hurricanes found themselves down big again in London, surrendering 57 first-quarter points to the Lightning, while only managing 19 per quarter in the first half.
They turned things around after the break, outworking the Lighting 61 to 43 in the second half of the contest.
By the final minutes of the fourth, Halifax had climbed all the way back to a 1-point deficit. With just mere seconds left on the clock, the Lightning fouled Terry Thomas, despite leading by 2. Thomas just one of his two free throws, sealing the game for the Lightning.
Thomas led the Hurricanes with a game-high 22 points to go with his seven rebounds, four assists and two blocks. His wing-mate Mike Poole put up 19, getting hot in the third quarter. Poole hit three of six from beyond the arc on the night and picked up three steals.
Halifax two starting bigs, Rhamel Brown and Jordan Washington, each recorded a double-double. Brown secured his in the first half, but finished with 18 points and 14 rebounds, while Washington finished with 14 points and 13 boards.
Cliff Clinkscales did his best to get his team going. He had a game-high 14 assists on the night.
The Hurricanes will finish up their Ontario trip on Sunday, Mar. 10 at 3 p.m. against the Kitchener Waterloo Titans. Catch the action on www.NBLCLive.ca! After that, they get eight days rest before returning to the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax three games during March break.
On Monday, Mar. 18, they face the Island Storm in a rescheduled game. Fans that had previously purchased individual tickets for the postponed game on Mar. 4 can use their ticket for admission to Mar. 18 or can go to the Ticket Atlantic Box Office at Scotiabank Centre for a full refund or exchange up until Friday, Mar. 15 at 5 p.m. Season Ticket Holders can use their Mar. 4 tickets for admission to the rescheduled game on Monday. March 18.
