Halifax Hurricanes News Release

Halifax, (NS) - Due to a re-occurring injury, the Hurricanes have placed Joseph Bertrand on injured reserve and his timetable to return is unknown at the moment.

Hurricanes have announced the signing of 6'5 guard, JerShon Cobb. JerShon Cobb is an American native who played NCAA basketball at Northwestern University, and Cobb recently played in the NBA D-League for the Canton Charge.

General Manger of Basketball Operations, Andre Levingston, said the team looked at a lot of other players, but they wanted someone who would replace Bertrand and also take them to the next level while Bertrand recovered from his injury. Cobb is a player of very high IQ, and usually defends the opposing teams' best player; to add to that, Cobb is also an excellent shooter beyond the perimeter.

Coach Lopez felt that highly skilled Cobb would be a perfect fit for the Hurricanes style of play.

Affiliate NBA team to the Canton Charge, Cleveland Cavaliers, management spoke extremely high of Cobb as a player and as a person.

Cobb will begin practice with the Hurricanes tomorrow.
