
Hurricanes Sign Defenseman Kaden Phillips

LETHBRIDGE, AB - The Lethbridge Hurricanes Hockey Club announced Wednesday the signing of 2005-born defenseman Kaden Phillips to a Western Hockey League Standard Player Agreement.
Phillips, 17, was originally selected by the Hurricanes in the ninth-round (192nd overall) in the 2020 WHL Prospects Drafts.
The Olds, AB product totaled 10 assists along with 12 penalty minutes in 25 regular season games in 2021-2022 with the Okanagan HA Black U17 Prep team in the CSSHL. The 6 '0, 165-pound rearguard added seven helpers in four post- season games. He also skated in six contests with the Okanagan HA U18 Prep team collecting one assist.
The left-shot defenseman tallied 22 points (3g-19a) along with 42 penalty minutes with the Olds Grizzly 's U15 AA team during his draft year. Phillips also dressed in one game in 2019-2020 with the Red Deer Rebels U15 AAA team picking up a pair of points (1g-1a). In the shortened 2020-2021 campaign, he played three games totaling two assists and eight penalty minutes with Red Deer Northstar Chief U16 AAA team.
The Hurricanes will begin the 2022 ENMAX Pre-Season on Friday, September 9th when they welcome the Medicine Hat Tigers at the ENMAX Centre. Lethbridge will host the Tigers in the Dairy Queen Home Opener on Friday, September 30th.
