Hurricanes Setting the Stage for 2016-17 NBL Canada Season

Halifax, NS -- With a championship winning season in the books, the Halifax Hurricanes are busy again planning for the upcoming season. With two new clubs added to the NBL of Canada (Kitchener-Waterloo Titans confirmed and the Cape Breton Highlanders still to confirm), the ten-team league will commence its regular season schedule in December.

Andre Levingston, former General Manager of Basketball Operations for the Club, will not return to the Hurricanes' for a second season. Mr. Levingston is pursuing other opportunities and wishes the Hurricanes much success this coming season and for the future.

"I would like to thank the Halifax Hurricanes, its ownership, players, coaches and fans for a tremendous championship season. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in Halifax doing what I can to grow the game of basketball and to bring a professional team to the city", said Andre. "The sport of basketball continues to grow in Canada and Halifax is a wonderful market for a team in this league."

The Club extends its gratitude to Mr. Levingston for his work with the Club and his dedication to the sport. "Andre is one of the most passionate people about the game of basketball that I have ever met. He has worked very hard to grow the game in Halifax and we thank him sincerely for his efforts", remarked Don Mills, Chairman of the Board. "I am particularly pleased that Andre was able to achieve his long-sought goal of helping to bring a championship to Halifax. We look forward to building upon Andre's legacy by brining another talented and entertaining team to Halifax this season."
