Halifax Hurricanes News Release
The Halifax Hurricanes played a steady, confident game from beginning to end to beat the Cape Breton Highlanders for the second time this week on Friday evening in Sydney at Centre 200.
The division-leading team from Halifax improved to 18-9 and cruised to a 115-101 victory thanks to a dominant performance from reigning Atlantic Division Player of the Week Billy White.
White had 29 points on the night off of nearly 58 per cent shooting, including two three-pointers. He also grabbed eight rebounds and served three assists.
He was backed up with efficient shooting from shooting guard Ta'Quan Zimmerman, who hit five threes on his way to 23 points.
Mike Poole was also dialled in and racked up 19 points for the game in which he started for an injured Antoine Mason.
The Hurricanes were able to maintain their advantage all game despite Cape Breton's Bruce Massey Jr. game-high 33-point explosion.
The Hurricanes will look to keep the wins coming on Sunday when they head to New Brunswick to face the Moncton Magic. Moncton at 17-13 is close on the heels of the Hurricanes in the Atlantic Division. That game starts at 2 p.m. and can be watched on MonctonMagic.ca/broadcast/gnhhvs.
On Tuesday, Feb 27, the Hurricanes are back at home at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax while the Kitchener Waterloo Titans are in town during their East Coast road trip. That game starts at 7 p.m. Get your tickets at the Ticket Atlantic Box Office or online.
