Hurricanes Get Back into the Win Column with 109-98 Defeat of the Moncton Miracles

Halifax, (NS) - The Halifax Hurricanes won their second of back to back contests at home in the Scotibank Centre in downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia. Saturday night's game pitted the first place Halifax Hurricanes against the last place in the Atlantic Division Moncton Miracles.
Halifax got off to a hot start in the game, opening the contest with a 10-0 run. The Miracles were able to regroup quickly and close the gap, even taking a two point lead halfway through the quarter. Halifax used excellent shooting of over 60% from the field to finish the first half with a 62-45 lead. The Miracles refused to go away and continued to chip away at the Canes lead, outscoring them 32-23 in the third quarter. In the end, the Hurricanes used their deep bench to hold off the Miracles and finish the game with a 109-98 win, improving their record to 14-3 on the season.
Halifax Forward Billy White had a huge game for the Canes, scoring a season high 35 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for his second straight double-double. Forward CJ Washington also had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds..
The Miracles leading scorer was Melvin Johnson III with 32 points on 6 of 10 shooting from 3 point range. Forward Russell Byrd added 12 points and Centre Tim Mitchell grabbed 10 rebounds for Moncton.
