HALIFAX, N.S. - It wasn't the result the Hurricanes were looking for in the 2018-19 home opener.

The Hurricanes fell to the Moncton Magic 121-94 on Thursday evening at Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.

The Hurricanes were limited to less than 40 points in the second half, as the Magic cruised to a win.

Six Magic players scored in double figures led by three-point specialist Corey Allmond, who connected on five of 11 attempts on his way to a game-high 29 points on the evening.

If Hurricanes fans are looking for a bright spot from Thursday night, they need not look further than the emergence of new young Hurricanes talent. Especially in the first half where new National Basketball League of Canada player Joel Kindred scored 20 of his 27 points. Kindred showcased his explosiveness in transition, his shooting range and explosiveness.

Kedar Edwards and Canadian player Malcolm Duvivier stood out as well, scoring 12 and 11 points respectively.

Hurricanes veterans Mike Poole, Tyrone Watson and Cliff Clinkscales were also active all game long. Poole scored 11, Watson netted 10 and Clinkscales dished out eight assists.

The Hurricanes are on the road this weekend, getting a rematch against the Magic in Moncton on Saturday night at 7 p.m. Check HalifaxHurricanes.ca for information on how to watch the game.
