
Hurricanes Drop Second Game in a Row at Home

Halifax,NS- The Halifax Hurricanes faced off at home against the Kitchener-Waterloo Titans at Scotiabank Centre in Downtown Halifax, Nova Scotia on Sunday Afternoon. This was the Hurricanes first contest against the Titans, who are in third place in the NBLC Central division with a 14-19 record.
The Titans got off to a very quick start in the game, opening the contest with a 14-4 run behind perfect shooting from forward Flenard Whitfield. The Canes were able claw their way back in the second quarter, outscoring the the Titans 28-13 in the frame, finishing the first half within a point of the Titans at 43-42. The Canes were unable to sustain that momentum however, and the Titans made good use of their fast tempo offensive style to outscore the Canes 27-22 in the third quarter, and 27-20 in the fourth. The Titans finished with an 97-84 victory, handing the Canes their second straight loss. The Titans improve to 15-19 on the season, while the Hurricanes collect only their ninth loss of the 2016-2017 campaign.
Halifax was paced by Forward Billy White who lead the team in scoring with 21 points and added 9 rebounds, just missing the double-double. Forward Tyron Watson chipped in 18 points and 7 rebounds on the night for the Canes. Forward CJ Washington was activated off of the IR for today's game.
Titans Power Forward Flenard Whitfield had a huge game on the afternoon, leading all scorers with 30 points and 13 rebounds. Guards Tramar Sutherland and Adam Blezak each had 13 points for the Titans.
The Hurricanes will take on the Moncton Miracles Thursday, April 13 at 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum. The Hurricanes have won all six contests against the Miracles so far this season.
