Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club defeated the Island Storm 106-100 in game one of NBL Canada playoff action May 5th, at the Scotiabank Centre. Hurricanes lead the 5 game series, 1-0.

Storm led the Hurricanes at the end of the first quarter 22-32. In the second quarter the Island Storm outscored the Hurricanes 20-26, and the Storm lead 42-58 at halftime. In the third quarter the Hurricanes outscored the Storm 21-34. The Hurricanes outscored the Storm 30-21 in the final quarter, enough to give them the comeback victory; The final score of the game was 106-100.

Forward, Billy White led the Hurricanes with 23 points. Guard, Joel Friesen scored 16 points. Guard, Shane Gibson scored 15 points. Forward, Mike Glover scored 13 points. Guard, Justin Johnson scored 11 points. Center, Kyle Hunt scored 10. Guard, Cliff Clinkscales scored 5 points and had 14 assists.

Guard, Terry Thomas led all scorers with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Guard, Morgan Lewis scored 24 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Guard, Joseph Bertrand scored 11 points. Center, Chad Posthumus scored 11 points.

Halifax Hurricanes lead 1-0 in the series and will play game two, tomorrow evening at the Scotiabank Centre at 7pm.
