Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club were in action on March 28th, Easter Monday, at the Eastlink Centre against the home team - Island Storm. The Hurricanes defeated the Storm 104-93; this is the second win against the Storm in consecutive days. The Hurricanes now have a record of 21-8, leading in the Atlantic Division and #1 in the league.
Hurricanes led the Storm at the end of the first quarter 25-24. In the second quarter both teams were even at 24-24, and the Hurricanes led 49-48 at halftime. In the third quarter the Hurricanes outscored the Storm 28-15. The Storm outscored the Hurricanes 30-27 in the final quarter but the Hurricanes prevailed; the final score of the game was 104-93.
Guard, Shane Gibson led the Hurricanes in scoring with 23 points. Forward, Mike Glover scored 20 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Center, Kyle Hunt scored 19 points. Guard, Joel Friesen scored 15 points for the Hurricanes.
Guard, Rashad Whack led all scorers with 25 points. Guard, Terry Thomas scored 20 points. Forward, Tirrell Baines scored 13 points for the Storm. Forward, Brian Addison scored 13 points. Forward, Brent Jennings scored 9 points.
The Hurricanes will face the Moncton Miracles on April 7th, at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax.
