
Hurricanes Defeat Miracles In Final Pre-Season Game At Scotiabank Centre

Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club begin the start of a new franchise with a win over the Moncton Miracles, the Hurricanes defeated the Miracles 110-91 in the first exhibition game held at the Scotiabank Centre. After defeating P.E.I's Island Storm 106-103 in the first pre-season exhibition matchup held in Sydney at Centre 200 on Friday.
Tony Criswell led the Hurricanes with a game-high 20 points, shooting the ball perfectly from the field, he went 8/8. Forward Kyle Hunt scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Guard Alex Johnson netted 15 points while shooting the ball effectively -  he was 4/6 from the three point line. Forward Negus Webster-Chan also shot the ball well from distance, going 4/5 beyond the three point line. Justin Johnson and Shane Gibson each added 13 points. Forward Michael Glover scored 11 points.
Veteran Guard, Cliff Clinkscales led the team in assists with 5. He added some kind words of appreciation to the fans post-game, grabbing a microphone and speaking to all in attendance.
General Manager of Basketball Operations Andre Levingston said, "Halifax has always had great fans, hopefully they liked what they saw tonight, it's a new organization and a new franchise there's a lot of excitement right now. Hopefully we're able to surpass attendance tonight, which was great."
He added, "It was good to end the pre-season with the win in front of our home crowd. We're still looking at a few guys, we're evaluating because the roster is not final yet. That being said, the guys played really well together and I'm sure with coaches' system we'll get better every game. From the first couple of games, I'm excited about the level of the guys that we have"
Commenting on the fans after his first game at the Scotiabank Centre, Coach Hugo Lopez said, "They were amazing - it was great to see the fans supporting us, they were cheering the entire game and their support was great. Hopefully on the opening day they will come join us, so they can see another Win."
The Halifax Hurricanes begin the 2015-2016 regular season at the Scotiabank Centre next week, when they face the Moncton Miracles on December 26th.
