Halifax, (NS) - Halifax Hurricanes Basketball Club defeated the Saint John Mill Rats 117-89 in game two of the Atlantic Conference Championships, at the Scotiabank Centre. Hurricanes lead the 7 game series, 2-0.
Hurricanes led the Mill Rats 27-1 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter the Hurricanes and the Mill Rats were even at 21-21, and the Hurricanes lead 48-37 at halftime. In the third quarter the Hurricanes outscored the Mill Rats 36-21. The Hurricanes outscored the Mill Rats 33-31 in the final quarter, enough to earn a strong victory in game one; The final score of the game was 117-89.
Guard, Shane Gibson led all scorers with 29 points. Forward, Billy White scored 14 points. Forward, Mike Glover scored 14 points. Guard, Cliff Clinkscales scored 13 points and had 14 assists. Guard, Justin Johnson scored 12 points.
Forward, Gabe Freeman led the Mill Rats with 21 points and 7 rebounds. Forward, Olu Famutimi scored 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Guard, Chris Smith scored 16 points. Guard, Doug Herring Jr scored 12 points in the loss.
Halifax Hurricanes lead 2-0 in the series and will play game three on Friday May 20th at the Harbour Station.
