Hurricanes Can't Hold on against Magic in Moncton

MONCTON, N.B. -- The Halifax Hurricanes are still winless against the Moncton Magic so far this season, and so is the rest of the league.
The now 9-0 Magic defeated the Hurricanes 105-96 in Moncton at the Avenir Centre on Friday evening.
The NBLC Atlantic Division rivals fought a closely contested through four quarters of play, but Moncton's hot shooting was too much for the Hurricanes to overcome late.
Shooting guard Joel Kindred led the Hurricanes with 18 points and seven rebounds, but it was backup point guard Malcolm Duvivier who kept Halifax close in the fourth quarter, during which he hit three of his four made three-pointers of the evening, on his way to 13 points, three assists.
Veteran Hurricanes Rhamel Brown and Cliff Clinkscales each had 11 points in the effort. Tyrone Watson scored 10.
The Hurricanes elite forward Gabe Freeman rejoined the line up after missing the previous two games and had nine points to go with his 12 rebounds.
Former Hurricane Billy White led the Moncton Magic with 26 points, including a clutch 3-pointer in the fourth quarter. He was joined by sharpshooter Corey Allmond and Jason Calliste, who combined for 27 in just threes alone.
The Hurricanes will now fly to Ontario to face some of the NBLC's Central Division teams on their own turf before Christmas. On Sunday, Dec. 16, the Hurricanes the leagues newest franchise, the Sudbury Five. That game is scheduled to tip off at 3 p.m. AST. The Hurricanes return home to Scotiabank Centre in Halifax on Friday, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m. to host the Cape Breton Highlanders for Noise Night where the first 1,000 fans will a free noisemaker.
Then on Sunday, Dec. 30, they will host the St. John's Edge at 2 p.m. for Family Fun Zone, which opens at 1 p.m. At halftime, the Hurricanes will feature a Paper Airplane Toss for a chance to win $500 cash. The Hurricanes will face some new competition that afternoon with the St. John's Edge, who recently signed former NBA Champion for the Boston Celtics, Glen "Big Baby" Davis.
