Halifax Hurricanes News Release
Halifax, NS - - The Halifax Hurricanes are pleased to announce the signing of Michael Poole.
Born in Rosedale, New York, Michael Poole played his high school ball at Saint Benedict's Preparatory School in Newark, New Jersey. His college career ball began at Rutgers University (2010-2013) where the versatile forward/guard was a dominant force for the advancing Scarlet Knights. Poole was one of four players to transfer from Rutgers to another school after the Mike Rice scandal in 2013. The 6-foot-6, 200lb swingman found a new home in New Rochelle at Iona College. There, Poole quickly became a leader and a solid two-player for the Gaels. In 2013-14 Poole's numbers increased to 21.4 minutes, 6.0 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Head Coach Kevin Keathley is impressed by Poole's versatility. "Michael is a player who can do a little bit of everything well. He has length at the guard and wing position. He's good in transition and can make plays in the half court. He's a strong defender that can guard several different positions. We want players who can play multiple positions and Michael will provide us with that."
