Huntsville Wreaks Havoc on Surge, Wins 6-0

Jesse Kallechy made 30 saves to complete the shutout and led the Huntsville Havoc to a 6-0 win against Mississippi Surge.

Huntsville was sparked by Nick Lazorko, who tallied one goal. Lazorko scored 1:47 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Huntsville. Justin Cseter picked up the assist.

The Havoc excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Huntsville's defensive effort looked to be improved. The Havoc average 2.3 goals allowed per game. Huntsville's offense was clicking better than usual and put 42 shots on goal during the game, better than the 30.5 shots per game it averages.

Huntsville also got points from Rob Florentino, who also registered one goal and three assists to lead the team in points, Justin Fox, who also racked up one goal and one assist, and Josh Harris, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Huntsville also had goals scored by Ray Ortiz and Mike Gurtler, who scored one goal each. Other players who recorded assists for Huntsville were Leland Fidler, who had one. Mississippi Surge was held below its usual level of production. Mississippi Surge puts an average of 3.0 pucks into the net per game. Mississippi Surge was led by Mark Thorburn, who took four shots.

The Havoc totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Mississippi Surge's Mathieu Dugas stopped 36 shots out of the 42 that he faced. Mississippi Surge ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors.

"We worked hard but not smart tonight," Head Coach Jeff Bes said after the loss, "Tonight proved that we have to keep working within the system to be successful. The good thing about hockey is we get back on the horse tomorrow night."

The Surge face the Louisiana IceGators on their home ice tomorrow night.
