Knoxville Smokies News Release
Huntsville, AL- Huntsville trips Tennessee 6-3 in front of 11,455 at Joe W Davis Stadium.
The Stars scored first with two in the fifth. Smokies starter Justin Berg had a no hitter with two outs in the bottom of the fifth when Steve Moss with two-strikes singled two centerfield. Still in the fifth with two on and two gone pitcher Mark Defelice doubled in the runs.
The Stars then added three to the advantage with a big sixth inning to chase Berg from the game.
Tennessee ended the Defelice shutout by scoring in the seventh. Issmael Salas doubled in two runners to help Tennessee close the gap to three.
The Smokies would load the bases in the ninth and score once but would strain the tying runs on.
The Smokies will start Kevin Hart (6-5) tomorrow night while the Stars will counter with Will Inman (1-3). Tennessee will be back at Smokies Park for a five game series with the Mobile Baybears starting on July 11th. Tickets can be purchased by calling 286-2300 or online a smokiesbaseball.com
