Huntsville Havoc News Release
The Huntsville Havoc swept a weekend series at home against the Columbus Cottonmouth, 5-2 on Friday and 5-4 in overtime on Saturday.
Friday, November 4 - Huntsville 5, Columbus 2 HUNTSVILLE, AL - The Huntsville Havoc got two goals and an assist from Bill Monkman as they skated by the Columbus Cottonmouths 5-2 Friday night in Huntsville. Noah Katz added an even strength goal and Chris Peach and James Patterson both scored powerplay goals in the win. Steve Hynes and Jason deGuehery had two assists each while Patterson, Jesse Baranuik, Darren Salmon and Mike Degurse all had one each. Brent Toews and Ryan Rutz scored for the Cottonmouths. Matt Ponto, Tim Green, Orrin Hergott all had assists. Matt Carmichael had 22 saves to win his fourth game of the season. Chad Rycroft had 29 in the loss. Huntsville was whistled for 27 penalty minutes while Columbus had 18. The Havoc was 2-of8 on the powerplay and Columbus was 1-of-7.
Saturday, November 5 - Huntsville 5, Columbus 4, OT HUNTSVILLE, AL - Jonathon Lounsbury scored 2:42 into the overtime period lifting the Huntsville Havoc to a 5-4 win over the Columbus Cottonmouths in a game that lasted over three hours. The game had 186 penalty minutes on 44 offenses, 95 by Columbus and 91 by Huntsville. The Havoc had a 4-2 lead on goals by Bill Monkman, Matt Bothwell, James Patterson and Chris Peach before Columbus rallied to tie the game. Tim Green scored late in the second period and Mat Ponto scored in the third to even the score. Green added a late first period goal and Tom McMonagle scored in the second for the Cottonmouths. Matt Carmichael, who finished with 33 saves, got his fifth win of the season. Ryan Senft took the loss in his first start of the season. With all the penalties that were called, only eight powerplay opportunities arose, Huntsville was 1-of-5, Columbus was 1-of-3.
