Huntsville Flight Acquires Giannoulis

GREENVILLE, S.C. (February 10, 2003) - The Huntsville Flight of the National Basketball Development League has acquired center Giannis Giannoulis, according to an announcement by NBDL Executive Director Karl Hicks and Huntsville Head Coach Ralph Lewis. The Flight also waived center Eric Chenowith.
Giannoulis, who has extensive international basketball experience, was in training camp with the Toronto Raptors this season. After playing nine seasons with PAOK Thessaloniki, he played last season with Panathinaikos Athens in the Greek League and Euroleague. He averaged 8.0 points and 4..6 rebounds in the Greek League and 5.8 points and 3.7 rebounds in Euroleague play last year.
After beginning his NBDL career in November 2001 with the Greenville Groove, Chenowith has played most of the last two seasons with Huntsville. He played in 33 games (28 starts) for Huntsville this season, averaging 22.2 minutes, 8.4 points and 5.5 rebounds.
Giannoulis, 27 years old and a member of the Greek National Team from 1996 to 2002, will wear jersey number 26 for the Flight.
