Huntsville Acquires Blackshear, Waives Orr

GREENVILLE, S.C., February 9 – The Huntsville Flight of the NBA’s National Basketball Development League has acquired guard Ronald Blackshear from the available player pool and waived forward Randy Orr, according to NBDL director of basketball operations Chris Alpert and Flight head coach Ralph Lewis.

Blackshear, 6-5, 210, played collegiately at Marshall (Â’04), where he averaged 20.3 points and 3.6 rebounds as a senior. He began his college career at Temple, where he averaged 3.4 points in just 10 games as a freshman in 1999-2000.

He was an early entry into the 2003 NBA Draft before going to vet cap with the New York Knicks as an undrafted free agent. He was drafted by the Fayetteville Patriots (3rd round, 18th overall) in the 2003 NBDL Draft before being released in training camp. BlackshearÂ’s most recent action came in Argentina, where he averaged 15.0 points and 2.5 rebounds per game for Estudiantes Olavarrio. He also averaged 16.0 points and 2.4 rebounds with the Macon Blaze of the WBA last season.

Orr played in 27 games (three starts) for the Flight, averaging 13.6 minutes, 3.7 points and 2.9 rebounds.
