The Corpus Christi IceRays used three second period goals to erase a two-goal deficit, snapping a five-game losing skid in the process, and knocked off the Wichita Falls Wildcats, 4-2, in front of 2,636 fans on Faith and Family Night at the American Bank Center. Captain Ben Hughes tallied the game -winning goal while Pheonix Copley made 28 saves in between the pipes to improve his overall record to 3-1-1. Despite an even first twenty minutes of action, the IceRays found themselves down 2-0 after the first period. Wichita Falls scored two goals, 32 seconds apart, at the 14:02 and 14:35 mark respectively. The first came on the power play as Tanner Fahlstedt (3) snuck one through the back door of Pheonix Copley off a feed from Dakota Klecha. Klecha (10) then scored his third goal in as many games this week against the IceRays as he used a speed rush down the left-wing and beat Copley to put the Wildcats on top 2-0. Shots were even, 10-10.
It was all Corpus Christi from then on though as they scored four unanswered goals, three coming in the second period. At the 3:00 mark of the second period, Beau Walker (6) deposited a Jason Souva rebounded shot past Eric Garavaglia to cut the deficit to 2-1 with the goal coming on the power play. Joey Parizek (3) tied the game at 2-2 as he snapped one past Garavaglia off an offensive zone faceoff at the 4:45 mark. The goal was assisted by Cody Milligan and Navarone Copley. The Rays took the lead for good on the power play, 11:14 into the period, when Ben Hughes (6) fired a wrist shot from the right circle into the back of the net giving Corpus Christi the 3-2 lead after two periods. Shots were 16-11 in favor of the IceRays.
Souva (2) added an empty-net goal at the 19:05 mark of the third period and Copley made nine third period saves to preserve the victory for the IceRays, 4-2.
