
Houston Recalls Caron, Signs Defenseman Ludwig

Houston, TX - Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill announced on Sunday that the club has recalled forward Josh Caron from the Orlando Solar Bears, the Aeros ECHL affiliate. The team also announced it has signed defenseman Tyler Ludwig to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).
The 21-year old Caron has skated in ten games for the Aeros without picking up a point. He's also played in 19 games for Orlando this season. Caron scored his first pro goal and added his first pro assist for two points with the Solar Bears. The 6-foot-4, 215-pounder also racked up 34 penalty minutes with Orlando. He spent the last five years playing in the WHL with Kamloops and Everett. In all, the Campbell River, BC native scored three goals and added 19 assists for 22 points. He also amassed 446 penalty minutes.
Ludwig joins the Aeros from the Allen Americans, Houston's CHL affiliate. In 27 games for Allen, the 27-year old has three goals and 25 assists for 28 points. Over his three-year career, Ludwig has suited up in eight AHL games for Texas and San Antonio, going scoreless with four penalty minutes. He attended Western Michigan from 2006-10. His twin brother, Trevor Ludwig also plays in Allen. Their father, Craig Ludwig played 17 seasons in the NHL for Montreal, Dallas, NY Islanders and Minnesota.
The Aeros round out the weekend with a 5 p.m. faceoff on Sunday, Jan. 6 at Texas. Houston will return home on Saturday, Jan. 12 and Sunday, Jan 13. The Aeros host the Lake Erie Monsters at 7:05 p.m. on Jan. 12 and the Charlotte Checkers at 5:05 p.m. on Jan. 13. The Aeros will host a book drive, which begins on Saturday, Jan. 12 and concludes after the game on Sunday, Jan. 13. For every book that is donated, the Aeros will reward the donor with two tickets to a select home game (limit - five books per person). Fans may donate their books on the concourse by section 107. All the donated books will be collected and delivered to the Texas Children's Hospital, assisting the "It's My Heart" program.
