Houston Dynamo FC News Release

HOUSTON (Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014) - The Houston Dynamo will meet the Chicago Fire on Sunday at 2 p.m. CT at BBVA Compass Stadium in a match presented by BHP Billiton. Tickets are available at www.HoustonDynamo.com, by calling 713-276-GOAL, or by visiting the BBVA Compass Stadium box office (2200 Texas St., Houston) from 10 a.m. through kickoff tomorrow.

Tomorrow's game will be broadcast live on CSN Houston Plus (1:30 p.m. pregame) and Univision Deportes Netowrk. It can be heard on Yahoo Sports Radio 1560 AM and 850 AM (Spanish).

The Dynamo (9-13-6; 33 points) are in eighth place in the Eastern Conference following a 0-0 draw at Philadelphia last Saturday.

Houston trails Toronto FC and the Columbus Crew by seven points for fifth place and the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. The Dynamo are unbeaten in their last four games (2-0-2).

The Fire (5-7-16; 31 points) played to a 3-3 tie with D.C. United last Saturday. Chicago trails the Dynamo by two points in the East and has matched an MLS record with 16 ties this season.

The Fire has received a breakout season from forward Quincy Amarikwa, who has doubled his MLS career goal total with eighth this season while adding a career-best five assists. Midfielder Harry Shipp is a Rookie of the Year candidate with six goals and six assists, including a hat trick at New York on May 10.

Chicago lost forward Mike Magee, the 2013 MLS MVP, for the season after he underwent a right hip procedure to address a labrum injury on Sept. 9. Magee, who was tied for the club lead with seven goals at the time of the injury, scored 21 goals last season.

Sunday's game pits two former coaching colleagues as Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear started his coaching career as an assistant under Frank Yallop with the San Jose Earthquakes in 2001. The pair have combined to win four MLS Cups and are both in the top five on the MLS all-time wins list. Kinnear (137 wins) is third while Yallop (122 wins) is fifth. Yallop is in his first year as head coach of the Fire after six seasons with San Jose.

Tomorrow is the first of two games between Houston and Chicago this year. The clubs meet in again in the final regular season game on Oct. 24 at Toyota Park.

Following Sunday's game, the Dynamo visit the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, Oct. 4 at Red Bull Arena.
