(on how the team played this evening) "Great result, great win. We were a little slow offensively with the ball in the first half, playing without urgency. Even then, we had the game under control-not many lapses defensively. The team was very solid defensively in the first half. The second half, I think we are much better. I like to use the word urgency because the players really, really took another step. We were playing with urgency. We were creating opportunities. We were running at them. We were creating chances-moving the ball a little faster. So, for me a well-deserved win and very, very pleased with the how the team managed the last 5-10 minutes of the game at the end."

(on the importance of winning tonight) "Very important, especially because we were coming with three consecutive losses in league play. It's another chance for us, another cup, another tournament and I think we again, played well for the most part. We deserved to win and we are very pleased with the result. We haven't had a chance to win a trophy, of course there is a lot of games to go still in the cup, but we are very pleased that we are in the fight for that."

(on if there is one area that he thought the team played really outstanding) "It was a very, very good team performance. Defensively, offensively, we are well balanced. I mentioned the word urgency in the second half, we played with purpose and it gave us more opportunities to play on their half and create more chances. So, I think it was a well-balanced team performance."

(on MF Brooklyn Raines) "The kid was phenomenal tonight, again. He was really good. He doesn't play as a 17-year-old. I think when he is on the field, he looks like a senior and had another fantastic game-really helped us in the middle of the park by breaking plays, connecting the game. Very, very pleased."

(on how important it is to keep the momentum going) "Very, very important. I mentioned before the game, it would be a good opportunity for players that were not starting as many games lately. They came on and they stepped on. They performed. They did what we needed to go through. So, really important to give playing time to the guys that have not been playing much. Again, we are pleased with the win. We are pleased that we move to the next round and we go from here."

(on being the last Texas team standing in the U.S. Open Cup) "Very important. When I said a couple of weeks ago, we want to be the best team in Texas. We want to be fighting for championships. We want to win trophies. We want to be in the playoffs at the end of the year. So, it's a step-by-step process and again, the guys who stepped onto the field today, the guys who had the opportunity, they took the opportunity really well. Every time we step on the field, even if we rotate the squad or if in a league game, it's to win games and that's the goal-to put this club where we want to go and it's a process, but we build from this. We know that it's step-by-step but we are definitely going to build from this win tonight."

(on if this is the kind of performance he expects from FW Sebastian Ferreira) "Every press conference I have a question about (FW) Sebastian (Ferreira) and I am not going to change what I say. It takes time for a player to come from South America and adapt to this league. I think Sebastian is evolving every week and he is working hard consistently on the training ground to get better, to help the team and again, tonight he helped us again. He scored a great header, had a few other chances, half chances, but he's there. I think he understands his role better, the way that we want to play, and that's great for the benefit of the team."

(on FW Thiago's performance today) "He is another kid that is in the same situation that we talked about with Sebastian (Ferreira). It's a kid that is coming from Brazil. He's young and he is trying to adapt and he is another player that is evolving slowly. He's getting more playing time. He's being more effective. He's being part of better plays offensively. He works hard as well for the time that he was on the field. So, again, another player that is moving in the right direction and we are really pleased with his performance tonight."

(on MF Darwin Ceren's performance today) "Yeah, look (MF Darwin) Ceren is a warrior. I mean he will give everything he has on the field every time and I think tonight he stepped up. He performed as the great leader he is on the field and for sure it was great to see that, because we were missing that in the last few games, that warrior mentality. He definitely brought that tonight and helped us as well in the middle of the park with (MF) Brooklyn (Raines) and (FW) Memo (Rodriguez) and (FW) Marcelo (Palomino) afterwards."

(on the performance of the backline especially DF Zarek Valentin and GK Michael Nelson tonight) "Both of those guys were very good. Zarek (Valentin) is another leader that we have in the locker room. I think he was very vocal, organized, and the guys in front of him. Very, very, nice performance by him, (GK) Michael (Nelson) brilliant. I think he did everything that we expect him to do when a keeper is called and he makes the saves and keeps the clean sheet for us. I can't just say one or two guys. I think it was a very good team performance by everyone. I think everyone stepped up and really did well especially in the second half of this game."

(on tonight's game against SAFC) "We are coming from three games that we lost and now we have the opportunity to get another game. For us, mentally it is positive because it's a great win, great effort. Everybody did their job, everybody fought for each other, and this is the way that things are looking for something special. It's good for us and now we think about Nashville."

(on not conceding any goals) "When you try to find a way to win, you have to keep a clean sheet in the back. We talk to everybody, to do their job and make the effort, try to defend hard, and then the opportunities will come to score. That is the way that we scored, almost at the end and everyone is just focused because when you keep the clean sheet. At least you have one or two chances and the opportunities to score and that's why we scored in the last part of the game."

(on GK Michael Nelson) "It's good for Michael (Nelson), he's a great goalkeeper and he made good saves for us tonight. This happens when everybody is focused on the game and doing what everybody is supposed to do, he deserved a good game tonight."

(on the importance of winning a game) "Nobody is prepared to lose and we are training hard every day and every week to win and play well. Sometimes in the game, something in the game happens like some easy mistake and we lose. Now we want to change the mentality for everybody. It's hard when you lose and you feel like the same mistakes happen in the game, but in this game, for each of my teammates, we managed the match very well. In the way where we prepared for the week, we found a way to win and it's important in the locker room. We start thinking, when we play good, when we play like we are training, we get the result like tonight. Now we are thinking about Nashville. This has to be a motivation for the group."

(on MF Brooklyn Raines) "He's a great midfielder, he had the opportunity to play, get confidence and build good character in the middle. He played good tonight and he has to think about the future, because he needs to take advantage of the opportunity. Paulo (Nagamura) gave him confidence, so he has to believe in himself as he did tonight for the team. When you have a game like that, it's special for the player because I feel the same when I was playing at the same age. I played in my country, but it was the same feeling, when you are young you are nervous but when you have the confidence of the team, the coach, you play well and you play with confidence. More minutes are coming for him and we are happy to have him on the team."

(on being the only Texas team left in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup) "We are happy to win tonight, if we are the only team in Texas to advance to the next round, now we know we are a good team. It's no surprise, we play to win and we do our job tonight, we fight until the end. Now we are looking forward to the next one."

(sobre la mentalidad del equipo para este partido) "Es difícil cuando un equipo anda en un mal momento. Realmente hubo partidos en los que jugamos bien y perdimos y eso es lo que más le duele al grupo. Este es el momento, de crecer, de salir de esta situación, de aprovechar la oportunidad. Esa mentalidad la llevamos al partido. Teníamos esa sed de triunfo. Retomar esa confianza que hacía falta en el grupo. Llevamos el partido como lo habíamos planeado. Merecimos la victoria obtenida. (sobre si esperaban este tipo de partido de parte de San Antonio) "Lo esperábamos. San Antonio juega muy bien y había eliminado a otro equipo que juega muy bien como Austin. Venían con esa motivación. Marcaron muy bien en todo el campo durante el primer tiempo. Se nos complicó un poco. El estado físico de ellos les pasó factura cuando nosotros subimos la intensidad. Supimos ser pacientes para llegar al área. Físicamente esa fue la clave para ganar, junto al esfuerzo y al deseo de ganar".

(sobre cómo se siente ser hoy el capitán) "Es especial. Siento los colores del equipo. Tengo muchos años en la ciudad, me siento como en casa. Me siento feliz. Cuando se da la oportunidad de ser capitán me da mucha alegría, trato de ser más positivo en el campo. Ayudar a mis compañeros. Tratar de hacer mi trabajo lo mejor que pueda".

(sobre cuánto significa romper esta racha adversa y ser el único equipo texano vivo en esta copa) "Era muy importante asumir este juego con la motivación y responsabilidad de ganarlo. No solo para ser el equipo de Texas que sigue vivo en la Copa sino para reivindicarnos con nosotros mismos. Todos estamos en sintonía, jugando de la mejor manera. Jugar como lo planeamos en la semana. Era muy importante ganar hoy, luego de tres derrotas. Creo que habíamos trabajado muy bien. Perder de esa manera fue muy doloroso. Nadie quiere perder. Cuesta recuperarse. Esta oportunidad era para ganar confianza. Demostrar que todos estamos disponibles para aportar. Nos esforzamos. Todos estamos listos. Ya viene Nashville este fin de semana".

(sobre qué ha pasado con las habilitaciones a Sebastián Ferreira) "Sebastián (Ferreira) siempre está en el área, tratamos de buscar la manera de hacerle llegar el balón. Tiene una gran fortaleza en el juego aéreo. Parece que tiene un martillo en la cabeza. Tratamos de buscarlo lo más que se pueda porque es un delantero que se sabe mover en el área, que nos puede sacar de apuros. Fue una oportunidad de esas la que anotó. Bien por él. La alegría es de todos. Feliz por él y feliz por el grupo. Lo necesitamos para solventar ahí arriba. Veo que entrena fuerte, espero mantenga ese nivel para los próximos juegos que pueden ser más complicados que éste".

(sobre qué esperar del partido ante Nashville) "El equipo está motivado para lo que viene. Estamos contentos de recuperar a varios jugadores, incluyendo a "Fafa" (Picault) quien es muy importante en el equipo. Nos puede ayudar muchísimo. A lo mejor quienes jugamos hoy no actuaremos el sábado. Todos estamos en la misma sintonía y de eso se trata un equipo. En cualquier momento podemos estar en la cancha y por eso debemos estar listos para cuando el equipo nos necesite. Contento por la victoria y pensar ya en lo que viene que es Nashville, un equipo duro, No podemos dejar ir más juegos de casa. Tenemos que ser fuertes en casa, no podemos dejar ir más resultados, no ser tan pasivos, tratar de reventarnos en casa y volver a ganar y seguir recuperando confianza".

(on his goal and today's game) "Every player wants to make an impact when they play, for a striker that means scoring goals. It is how forwards make a living. It is what gives you confidence and strength. This victory is very important, it ends three-game losing streak and now we shift our focus to Saturday's game and the games that lie ahead."

(on what he learned about the team after 11 games) "We are getting to know each other better. We are showing game-by-game that we are growing. Despite the three defeats, we are growing. I didn't have many chances today, but I scored the one that was clear cut. I hope to continue helping the team."

(on what can you say about Darwin Cerén as captain) "He is a great player and a great person. When I arrived, since there are several Latinos here, he always made himself available and he helped us. Especially those of us who do not know English, to be able to adapt. To understand the meetings, the tactical conversations. On the field of play he is a leader. You guys saw it. He pushes us forward and dominates the midfield. He was the most important player today."

(sobre qué nos pude decir sobre este gol y del partido en general) "El gol es importante para cada jugador, en especial para un delantero. Es el pan de cada día para los delanteros. Es lo que le da confianza y fuerza. Esta victoria es muy importante para cortar la seguidilla de tres derrotas y con miras al juego del sábado y los partidos que vengan por delante".

(sobre cómo te sientes en el equipo después de 11 juegos con el equipo) "Nos vamos conociendo más. Estamos demostrando partido a partido que estamos creciendo. A pesar de las tres derrotas, estamos creciendo. No tuve muchas ocasiones hoy, pero anoté la que tuve clara. Espero seguir ayudando al equipo. El rival también juega. Es lindo entrenar con una victoria encima".

(sobre cómo ves a los jugadores jóvenes que están recibiendo la oportunidad en la Copa) "Son jugadores de mucho talento. Cuando se les ha dado confianza responden bien. Estos partidos son muy importantes para ellos, para que puedan mostrar que son capaces de jugar en MLS. Hay que apoyarlos, felicitarlos, llevarlos por el buen camino. Partido a partido demuestran por qué se habla de ellos".

(sobre qué tienen estos equipos de Texas que a todos les has anotado goles) "Creo que simplemente tocó así. Es importante para cada delantero tener ocasiones para apoyar al equipo".

(sobre cómo has visto la ayuda del equipo para ser tú un goleador en la MLS) "El rival también juega. Así como nosotros entrenamos el rival también analiza videos, ve nuestros puntos fuertes, trata de evitarlos. Es muy difícil en esta liga tener muchas oportunidades de gol. Cada rival es muy analizado. No hay equipos que tengan muchas oportunidades de anotar por juego. Tenemos una o dos oportunidades por partido. Debo ser muy efectivo. Solo tendré una o dos oportunidades".

(sobre qué puedes decir de Darwin Cerén como capitán) "Es un gran jugador y una gran persona. Cuando llegué, como estamos aquí varios latinos, él nos ayudó, especialmente a los que no sabemos inglés, para poder adaptarnos. A entender las charlas. En el campo de juego es un líder. Ustedes lo vieron. Nos empuja hacia adelante, juega y domina el medio campo. Fue el jugador más importante para el gol y la victoria".

(sobre dónde está ahora la mente del equipo) "Con una victoria encima es mejor trabajar. Nosotros siempre tenemos esta mentalidad. Esto es muy largo, no pudimos sumar en los últimos tres partidos. Hay que ganar todos los partidos en casa, no podemos perder más puntos aquí. Trataremos de ganar, traer puntos como visitantes también. Entrenamos para ganar. Siempre con la tranquilidad de que vamos por buen camino".

(sobre qué le dijiste a Memo Rodríguez cuando falló una oportunidad de gol en el minuto 63) "Que no hace falta matar al arquero. De esas jugadas entrenamos mucho y eso se vio en el partido. Hoy le tocó a Memo (Rodríguez), mañana puede ser a cualquier otro. Debemos ser más efectivos porque no tendremos muchas oportunidades de gol. Si somos más efectivos seremos un mejor equipo".

(sobre qué hizo San Antonio para que les complicaran tanto en el primer tiempo) "En esta liga se analizan mucho los rivales, no nos dejaban girar, marcaban hombre a hombre. Eso les resultó en el primer tiempo. Para el segundo cambiamos el chip. Estuvimos más verticales. En el segundo tiempo tuvimos más ocasiones. Mantuvimos el arco en cero. Es importante partir de eso. En la liga no lo habíamos podido hacer últimamente. Ya después de mantener el marco en cero vienen los goles y podemos ganar los partidos".

(sobre cuál fue el mensaje del técnico Paulo Nagamura para recuperar la confianza) "El mensaje es el mismo. Tratamos de ser protagonistas, pero el rival también juega, se prepara. Esto apenas va comenzando. Es largo. Debemos concentrarnos mucho. No decaer. Estamos por buen camino. Dependemos de nosotros 100 %. Corrigiendo los detalles "El Profe" (Paulo Nagamura) se va a encargar de eso para ganar en casa y rescatar puntos como visitante. Seguiremos escalando, para lograr el primer objetivo que son los playoffs".
