Houston Dynamo FC News Release
FRISCO, Texas - The Houston Dynamo fell 3-0 to FC Dallas this afternoon at Toyota Stadium.
Dallas took an early 2-0 lead after Dallas forward Michael Barrios floated a header across the face of goal for an oncoming Franco Jara in the 20th minute. Dallas doubled their lead seven minutes later when midfielder Andres Ricaurte found Fafa Picault at the near post for his first goal of the game.
Picault scored the final goal of the game in second half stoppage time after he won the ball in midfield and beat the Dynamo shot stopper in a one-on-one duel.
Houston's knocked on the door in the 22nd minute after forward Darwin Quintero controlled a cross in the box and headed it towards goal. The ball was just short of the inside of the near post.
Quintero switched the field in the 30th minute after winning the ball at midfield and found forward Ari Lassiter inside the box. The Costa Rican forward forced a save from Jimmy Muarer who punched Lassiter's one-touch volley out of play.
Quintero finished the first half on the end of a cross from Dynamo Academy product Memo Rodriguez. Quintero just missed the mark and finished the game with three shots.
Dynamo goalkeeper Marko Mariæ made a stellar diving save in the 48th minute after Ricaurte fired a right-footed shot from outside the box. The Dynamo shot stopper finished with five saves this afternoon.
Houston defender Jose Bizama had one of the best opportunities for the Dynamo in the second half after his effort forced a save from Maurer.
With today's result the Dynamo are officially eliminated from the 2020 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs. The Dynamo return to BBVA Stadium on Sunday, Nov. 8 to host the Colorado Rapids on Decision Day.
