Houston Comets News Release

HOUSTON - The Houston Comets announced today that the team has acquired the Charlotte Sting's 2006 third-round pick (29th overall) in exchange for guard Edwige Lawson.

Lawson (5-6, France) averaged 1.4 points and 0.5 rebounds in 19 games last season with the New York Liberty and Comets. In 17 games with the Comets, Lawson averaged 1.5 points and 0.4 rebounds. Last season, she signed as a rookie free agent with New York before being waived by the Liberty on May 30.

The WNBA Draft is scheduled for April 5 from Boston, Mass., where Houston also owns two picks in the second round - the 15th (via trade from Charlotte) and the 24th overall picks.

This season will mark the 10th Anniversary for the Comets and the WNBA, making it the longest-running professional women's league in history. The 2006 season will tip off at Toyota Center on May 21 when the Comets host the San Antonio Silver Stars. Individual game tickets for the preseason and regular season will go on sale April 30. To purchase season tickets, mini-plans or group tickets, call (713) 627-WNBA or go online at www.houstoncomets.com.
