Chesapeake Bayhawks News Release

ANNAPOLIS, MD - The Chesapeake Bayhawks announced today according to general manager Brian Reese that they have traded defenseman Kyle Hartzell and their 2nd round selection (13th overall) in the 2012 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Supplemental Draft to the Ohio Machine. In exchange, the Bayhawks will receive the Machine's 7th round selection (13th overall) in the 2012 MLL Expansion Draft. This announcement is made just hours before the 12-man protected list will be released by the MLL.

"Kyle has been a valuable member of the Bayhawks franchise and we thank him for his contributions," Reese stated. "We felt that this trade was a way to get a pick in the Expansion Draft to get a player that could help us. We felt that Kyle would have been selected in the Expansion draft and this was a way to get something of value in return."

Hartzell joined the Bayhawks in 2009, where he has been a standout part of the team. Contributing defensively for three seasons, Hartzell tallied 76 ground balls and shut out many star midfielders. The All-Star was also named the MVP for the 2010 MLL Championship game, which was the first time a defenseman ever received the honor. Prior to the Bayhawks, Hartzell played for San Francisco in 2008. Bayhawks 2012 season tickets can be purchased online at www.thebayhawks.com or over the phone by calling the box office 866-99-HAWKS (42957).
