Hounds to Open 2016 Season with Three-Straight Home Games

BOSTON, MA (Nov. 23, 2015) - Major League Lacrosse today announced the complete regular-season schedule for 2016, and the Charlotte Hounds will open at home on Saturday, April 23, against the Boston Cannons. It will mark the fifth-straight year the Hounds have opened at American Legion Memorial Stadium, though the team has failed to win its opener in each of the four previous seasons.
Each of the league's nine teams has seven home dates and seven away dates, as well as two bye weeks and one double-header weekend. The 2016 season will offer a mix of Thursday, Friday and Saturday night games. All games hosted in Charlotte will feature a faceoff time of 7:30pm ET.
Highlights of the Hounds' 2016 schedule include three-straight home games to open the season on April 23, April 30 and May 14, with May 7 severing as the team's first bye week. MLL's 2016 expansion team, the Atlanta Blaze, will make its first appearance in Charlotte on Saturday, June 25. The Hounds-Blaze rematch will be the following weekend, July 1, in Atlanta. The Hounds also will face the Denver Outlaws in back-to-back weeks at the end of July before closing the regular season at American Legion Memorial Stadium against the Chesapeake Bayhawks on Saturday, Aug. 6.
MLL will hold its 2016 All-Star Game on Saturday, July 9. The format and location of the game are still to be determined. The season will culminate in the Championship Game to be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, at a neutral site to be announced at a later date. The top four teams in the league will square off the previous weekend in the semifinals, with the fourth seed visiting the top seed and the No. 3 seed traveling to the No. 2 seed.
