West Coast Hotshots News Release

Bend, OR--Central Oregon Hotshots' head coach, JJ Anderson, announced the signing of 6'6", 205 lb guard/forward, Raspanti Laneair to the roster. The versatile and athletic Laneair joins the Hotshots after returning this winter from Switzerland upon learning of his displaced family in New Orleans. Laneair has been living in Dallas with his family, who has since returned to New Orleans seeking a fresh start in their hometown - something Laneair hopes to achieve in Central Oregon.

"Obviously, the circumstances surrounding Raspanti and his family were grounds for returning home and leaving a solid opportunity overseas," said Anderson. "He wasn't ready to return overseas last month, but now he's ready to move forward and is committed to building his professional career with us here in Central Oregon."

The former University of West Alabama and Oklahoma S&A standout averaged 18 points and 8 rebounds per game in college before making the move to the professional ranks, where he played for the ABA's Oklahoma City Ballhawgs. Laneair averaged 17 points and 5 rebounds per game with the Ballhawgs.

It is on the defensive end that Anderson expects Laneair to make the biggest contribution to the Hotshots. "The reality is that every player on our squad this year can score 20-30 points on any given night. What will separate us, however, is our ability to shut down the opponents and take pride in our individual and team defense. Raspanti brings that mentality that he is going to stop his opponent; he takes it personally when his man scores - that's contagious."

"Raspanti brings the athleticism (39 inch vertical leap), quickness and versatility to our roster that has and will continue to be the theme of our recruiting efforts this year," noted Anderson.

Laneair is the tenth man to join the Hotshots roster this season. The Hotshots season begins March 17th and season tickets are now available. The Hotshots are also seeking Sponsors and volunteers for the upcoming season. For more information, call (541) 221-3157 or visit www.hotshotsfan.com.
