Grand Rapids, MI-The Grand Rapids Flight has announced that Ed McCants, a key component in the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee's surprising sweet sixteen NCAA tournament run in 2005, will join the team for the 2006 season. McCants was named honorable mention Associated Press All-American in 2005.
McCants was the Horizon League Player of the Year in 2005, and the Newcomer of the Year in 2004. McCants finished the 2005 season with averages of 17.3 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.7 assists for the Panthers. McCants made 13 three-pointers in the Panthers' three NCAA tournament games last season, including five vs. Alabama in the first round.
