Potomac Nationals News Release

WOODBRIDGE, VA - The Potomac Nationals have extended the deadline to RSVP for their 15th-annual Hot Stove Banquet and Silent Auction to Monday, Jan. 25. Space is limited, so fans are encouraged to reserve their place now.

The event will be held Jan. 31 at the

Hyatt Fair Lakes in Fairfax, Virginia, from 5:30-9 p.m. The silent auction and cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 p.m., followed by a seated dinner and program featuring keynote speaker Mike Rizzo, General Manager of the Washington Nationals. The P-

Nats will also welcome Director of Player Development Doug Harris.

Tickets for the Hot Stove Banquet and Silent Auction are $40 per adult and $20 per child (12 and under) and are only available in advance. To reserve your seat at the banquet, please call Shawna Hooke at 703-590-2311, Ext. 212, or e-mail shooke@potomacnationals.com by no later than Jan. 25.

The club will be presenting the annual Terry Sullivan Fan of the Year, the P-Nats Player of the Year, Employee of the Year and the Prince William County High School Baseball and Softball Players of the Year awards.

Rizzo was named the General Manager of the Washington Nationals in August after spending the previous five months as the interim general manager. Rizzo's journey with the Nationals began in 2006 as an assistant GM after spending the previous seven seasons with the Arizona Diamondbacks as their scouting director. Rizzo made headlines in his first draft in 2007 when, according to Baseball

America, he gave the Nationals the highest draft rating. This rating was based on pitching prospects Ross Detwiler and Jordan Zimmermann, both former P-Nats, who have since reached the big leagues.

Harris joined the Nationals Oct. 15 of last year in a role overseeing the Nationals minor league affiliates. Harris, a James Madison University product, carries 20 seasons of baseball experience as a player, amateur scout and professional scout. He spent last season as a major league scout/advance scout with Cleveland after a 12-year tenure with Texas in various scouting capacities. Harris played seven professional seasons for three organizations.

Every year, the Potomac Nationals receive donations for the silent auction from minor league and major league baseball teams, NFL, NBA, NHL and MLS organizations and various Potomac Nationals sponsors. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the P-Nat 42 Foundation.

Opening Day at The Pfitz is set for April 8, when the Potomac Nationals host the Salem Red Sox. P-Nats season tickets and mini-plans are available now, so call 703-590-2311 to order yours today!
