FRESNO, CA - Chris Patrick (Clovis North High School Baseball), Mike Curran (Washington Union High School Baseball) and Dean Gregory (Buchanan High School Softball) have been named as finalists for Hot Stove Coach of the Year. The honor, along with four other awards, will be presented at the 50th Anniversary Hot Stove Gala on Thursday, February 3rd at the Fresno Convention Center.

Patrick improved upon a first-year program that went 22-10 with all underclassmen to notch a 28-5 mark and take home the CMAC title in 2010. Without a senior on the team, the Broncos made it all the way to the Central Section Division III finals, and Patrick took home CMAC Coach of the Year honors for his success. Patrick is a graduate of Fresno State and played parts of three minor league seasons before joining the coaching ranks.

Curran continued to find success with a Washington Union team that was coming off the school's first ever Cal-Hi Sports State Championship in 2009. While the Panthers entered the playoffs at just 19-13 and on a five-game losing streak, Curran helped them to four straight postseason victories, including road wins over each of the top two seeds to earn the school's second consecutive section championship. Curran still teaches at Washington Union, but will be serving as a volunteer coach with Fresno State this season.

Gregory has racked up nearly 200 victories since taking the reins of the Buchanan softball program in 2004. Last season he led the Bears to their third TRAC title under his tenure, featuring a dominant 32-4 overall record. Gregory's squad battled through a scoreless tie into the 15th inning in the Valley title game, but came up just short in a 1-0 defeat.

The nominees for Hot Stove Team of the Year, Female Player of the Year and Male Player of the Year as well as the winner of the 2011 Al Radka Award will be released later this week.

The 50th Anniversary Hot Stove Banquet, presented by Tecate and ABC 30, will also feature Giants legends Will Clark, Matt Williams, Steve Decker and Mark Gardner as well as a visit from the Giants World Champions Trophy. All proceeds benefit the Grizzlies Community Fund. The event has sold out, but to reserve a spot on the waiting list please contact the Grizzlies Front Office at 559.320.4487.
