
Horsemen Resign Four for 2006 Season

LEXINGTON, Ky.- Four Horsemen Football players have re-signed with the team for the 2006 season, head coach Mike Zuckerman announced Thursday. Kicker Collin Barber (Syracuse), wide receiver/defensive back Champ Kelly (Kentucky), wide receiver Chad Spencer (Georgetown [Ky.]), and defensive back Leonard Burress (Kentucky) each will return for the squad in the 2006.
Barber, 6-foot-2, 220 lbs., joins the squad after a prolific career at Syracuse University. Barber, finished fifth all-time at Syracuse in points scored with 237 and was tied for fifth all-time in Orangemen history in field goals made with 42.
Kelly, 5-foot-10, 212 lbs., was named a first-team United Indoor Football all-star member last season. Kelly also was named the league's Player of the Week three times in the 2005 campaign. Kelly was third on the team with 63 total tackles last year. He has been a member of the Horsemen since the 2003 season.
Spencer, 6-foot-3, 250 lbs., also was a first-team UIF all-star member in 2005. Spencer had 58 catches for 635 yards last season with 23 touchdowns. He also led the UIF in receiving yards per game with 65.5.
Burress, 5-foot-9, 190 lbs., finished last season with 43 tackles and three interceptions. Prior to joining the Horsemen, he was four-year starter at cornerback at the University of Kentucky. Burress played in 43 career games for the Wildcats. He compiled 74 tackles in his career, including a personal-best 34 in his sophomore year.
