Grand Rapids, MI - The Continental Basketball Association's Grand Rapids HOOPS are departing today on a three-game road trip that will keep them away from home until Saturday, December 7.
After snapping a four-game losing slide with a 109-104 victory on Friday night over the Gary Steelheads, the HOOPS are currently in fourth place in the American Conference with 19.0 quarter points, a 3.2 per game average. Grand Rapids moves on to a rematch with the Steelheads in Gary on Tuesday night, before traveling to Dakota and Sioux Falls to complete this week's action.
Currently, the HOOPS have several players ranked among the CBA leaders in various offensive categories. Larry Ayuso finds himself tenth in the league with a 19.3 scoring average, while Kevin Simmons and Kei Madison are ranked fourth and sixth in rebounding, respectively. Also, Eric Murdock has provided the floor leadership the team desired, accumulating 7.7 assists and 3.5 steals per contest, both second in the league.

Schedule for week of December 2-8:
December 3 â at Gary Steelheads (3-4) â Gary has lost two straight, including Friday night's defeat at the hands of the HOOPS, after winning three consecutive games to put them atop the American Conference. Bryant Notree (Illinois) leads the way for Gary, with 22.7 points per game, while Oliver Miller provides the inside muscle with a league-leading 14.6 rebounds per game.
December 4 â at Dakota Wizards (7-1) â The Wizards picked up where they left off after winning the 2002 CBA Championship, winning seven consecutive games to give them the best record in the league. National Conference Player of the Week, Andy Panko, leads Dakota with 23.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. Meanwhile, Malik Dixon and Courtney James both are putting up strong numbers (18.8 points and 14.3 points).
December 6 â at Sioux Falls Skyforce (2-7) - Sioux Falls is struggling out of the gate in 2002, losing their last three to drop them to the worst record in the CBA. In a weekend series with the expansion Yakima Sun Kings, the Skyforce put up a dismal 75 and 71 points in two losses. Marcus Taylor is still trying to find his niche in the CBA, averaging 12.5 points per game thus far.
