North Shore Honu News Release

The North Shore Honu blanked the West Oahu CaneFires, 2-0, tonight in a seven-inning game at Waipahu's Hans L'Orange Park and won its sixth consecutive game in the process. North Shore (16-6) now leads West Oahu in the Hawaii Winter Baseball West Division by 9 ½ games, and owns an 8-0 mark against the CaneFires (6-15-1).

Andrew Cruse (1-1, 3.38 ERA) and Brett Sinkbeil (0.90 ERA) stifled the West Oahu offense, each allowing one hit in three and four innings, respectively. Chris Valaika spurred the North Shore offense, going 3-3 on the evening and driving in both Honu runs-one of which came on a third-inning solo home run.

Steve Johnson (2-2, 2.78 ERA) took the loss despite only allowing one run-Valaika's home run-on five hits through 4 2/3 innings.

The red-hot Honu return to Hans L'Orange Park at noon tomorrow to kick off a three-game series with the HWB East Division-leading Honolulu Sharks. West Oahu will take on the Waikiki BeachBoys, also at Hans L'Orange Park, with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.
