Grand Rapids Hoops News Release

The Continental Basketball Association announced today that Grand Rapids HOOPS' forward Jerald Honeycutt has been named American Conference Player of the Week for December 8-14.

During the past week, Honeycutt, compiled 23.7 points, 12.6 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in leading the HOOPS to a 2-1 record. The former standout at Tulane put together his best performance of the season on Saturday versus the conference-leading Rockford Lighting, scoring 28 points and grabbing 20 rebounds.

Honeycutt, a 1997 Milwaukee Bucks' draft pick, also contributed 24 points and 10 boards in a 148-95 road victory over the Gary Steelheads. The 148 points set a new franchise record for points scored in a game, surpassing the 146-point output against the La Crosse Bobcats on January 28, 1994.

This is the second consecutive week that a member of the HOOPS' has been honored as player of the week. This marks the first time Honeycutt has won the award, while last week Eric Murdock took home the honors.

Thus far this season, Honeycutt is leading the team and is ranked among the league leaders with 24.0 points (2nd) and 12.4 rebounds (2nd) per contest. He has brought the HOOPS' a needed inside presence, after they began the season 1-3 in his absence.
