Chicago Blaze News Release
After losing their first two games on the road, the Chicago Blaze (1-2) bounced back by defeating the Houston Stealth (1-1) 76-64 in their home opener at the DePaul University Athletic Center.
For the Blaze, Dominique Canty (University of Alabama) led all scorers with 24 points. Chiquita Tucker (Arkansas State University) finished with 13 points, and Latonya Johnson (University of Memphis) and Jannon Roland (Purdue University) both added 10 points. Jackie Washington (Abilene Christian University) led the Stealth with 11 points.
The Blaze will face the Birmingham Power, led by the Miller Twins, CoCo and Kelly, tomorrow in Birmingham, Alabama at 4:00pm. The Blaze return home, February 22nd, when they host the Grand Rapids Blizzard.
The NWBL showcases professional women basketball players across the nation; including players from the Women?s National Basketball Association (WNBA) who choose to stay in the U.S. to play during the off-season. The 2003 season will run from February through April.
