Valley Blue Sox News Release

Holyoke, MA - The Blue Sox continued their hot start to the 2013 season with a 7-6 victory against the Swamp Bats on Wednesday night in Keene, New Hampshire.

Holyoke (3-1) didn't take long to jump all over Keene's starter Nick Neumann (0-2) as with one out and two on, Vahn Bozoian gave the Blue Sox a 3-0 lead with his first home run of the season.

Bozoian finished the game going 2-for-5 at the dish with three RBIs.

The Blue Sox were not done as Brendan Hendriks made it 4-0 later in the inning with a solo shot, his first long ball of the season.

Keene (1-4) couldn't get anything going until the third inning but by then the Blue Sox had started to pour it on.

Holyoke scored a run in each of the first four innings with Travis Maezes capped it off with a solo home run in the fourth inning making it 7-1 at the time.

The Swamp Bats would make a run but fall short in the end being shut down by Kendall Hawkins (1-0), who go the win, and Ben Rakus (1) who registered his first save of the season.

Holyoke is back in action on Thursday night against the New Bedford Bay Sox at Mackenzie Stadium.

Fans that come out to the game have the chance to meet the Boston Red Sox mascot, Wally the Green Monster, and also win Red Sox tickets throughout the game.

First pitch between the Blue Sox and the Bay Sox is set for 6:35 p.m.
