Edmonton Chill News Release
The Chill got to spend a few nights in their own beds and it showed as they returned to their winning ways against the Vancouver Volcanoes holding on for a 122-115 win in their first game back from the gruelling seven-game road trip.
With the team welcoming a new face in Jeff Dunn, currently the IBL's fourth leading scorer, and Marco Morgan meeting new teammates this week, the Chill showed a little rust throughout the contest going several stretches without scoring. They started fast opening up a ten point lead early, but Vancouver was able to erase the bulge and the two teams played a tight ball game for the entire 48 minutes. The Chill played with the lead most of the night leading at the breaks, 22-19, 48-46, and 84-77. The Chill's largest lead was 12 and Vancouver led at one point by three.
Leading on the score sheet for the Chill was Lee Scruggs, who used his jumper and post moves to register a double double with 25 points and 11 boards while four other Edmonton players got into double figures, Rashaun Broadus (7 assists) and Stephen Parker had 18 each. For the Volcanoes, who hung tough despite their long ride in Josh Jackson dropped a game-high 32 and Alex Hartman added 20. Three other Volcanoes topped 10 points as well.
The same two clubs will tip it up again Saturday night at 7:11pm at the Grant MacEwan gym in the final regular season home game for the Chill.
