Chill Finish Regular Season With a Loss
June 26, 2008 - International Basketball League (IBL)
Edmonton Chill News Release
With the number three seed as the prize the Chill looked ready to run the Jazz of Tacoma out of the gym, as they opened a 19-point second quarter lead only to see it disappear in a sea of pressure defense as the Jazz were able to wrestle away the lead in the fourth and hold on for a 114-106 win.
The opening 24 minutes belonged to the visitors as the Chill were able to score and rebound seemingly at will as they took the game to Tacoma who seemed to lack fire in the opening half. The Chill got contributions from the entire nine-man roster as they turned an early three-point deficit into a 33-24 lead after one quarter. As the second quarter started, the Chill continued to pace the game building to their brief game high lead of 19, but the home side made a late charge, led by Dontay Harris' 10 points in the period, to get it back to 62-51 Chill lead at the half.
Tacoma decided in the half time locker to go with a pressure defense to disrupt the offensive flow and it seemed to work perfectly. The visitors managed just 44 points in the final 24 minutes as the Jazz closed, tied, and eventually went ahead to pull the comeback win.
The high scorer for the night for Edmonton was Jeff Dunn, who scored 23, with Marco Morgan and Stephen Parker each adding 17. Lorenzo Rollins of Tacoma was the game's high man with 31.
The Chill will open their playoffs tomorrow night at 5pm PST against the Portland Chinooks at Snohomish County.
