Indiana Ice News Release
DIVISION DOMINANCE: The Ice concludes a five-game homestand Friday night when the team hosts the Green Bay Gamblers at 7 p.m. from the Pepsi Coliseum. The Gamblers are the only team in the East Division yet to face the Ice this season as Indy has already battled Waterloo, Cedar Rapids, Des Moines and Chicago. Indiana has enjoyed early season success against its East Division counterparts as the team is 4-0-1 and has outscored its division foes 19-13. The club's only blemish was a 6-5 shootout loss to Cedar Rapids this past Sunday.
ICE TREY: Early season offense has been generated in a big way from the line of Ryan Peckskamp, Todd McIlrath and Tomas Klempa. The speedy trio have amassed 19 points (10G, 9A), four power play goals and two game-winning goals in the team's first seven games. Peckskamp has been the finisher with four goals, while Klempa has six points (3G, 3A) in his last four games. McIlrath is riding a three-game point streak and has six points (2G, 4A) in his last three contests.
WINTER FRESH: Left wing Travis Winter has been the other source of consistent offense for the Ice as he has seven points (5G, 2A) to start the year. His five goals rank him in a tie for second in the USHL, while his two game-winning goals place him in a tie for first in the league.
ICE BEAT: Mike Beck has four assists in his last three games...Colin Vock is coming off a two-point performance (G, A) in Sunday's game which also included a shorthanded goal and a (+3) plus/minus...Brian Gifford has three points (G, 2A) in his last three games...Eddie Del Grosso leads all Icemen with a (+6) plus/minus...Tristin Llewellyn has four points (G, 3A) in his last four games.
TEAM MORSELS: The Ice is still unbeaten in regulation at home (3-0-1)....The Ice is 5-16 (31.3%) in its last three games on the power play and second overall in the league (6-33, 18.2%)...Indiana is tied for first in the USHL with two shorthanded goals.
GAMBLIN' MEN: The Green Bay Gamblers have struggled out of the gate with a 1-5-0 record in their first six games. The defense has been the problem for the Gamblers as the club has allowed a league-worst 4.67 goals/game. Offensively, the team features Blake Wheeler, who was selected fifth overall in the first round by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Draft. Wheeler has been the club's top marksman as he leads Green Bay in scoring with five points (4G, A).
