Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons are inviting their fans to join them for the team's annual Summer Blast at Save Mart Center on Thursday, July 13th, from 5:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Free admission with a donation of a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Poverello House.

"As a professional sports organization we are obligated to assist our community partners. Too often we only concentrate on giving during the holidays. The fact that "hunger knows no season" makes the July event for the Poverello House even that more important. I could not think of a better time than the middle of July to remind people of the needs of the hungry and homeless in our community," said John Tull.

Come enjoy the live music, entertainment, kids game, corporate booths. The first 1,000 people thru the doors will receive a free Summer Blast 2006 t-shirt. There will be an autograph table with select players and coaching staff on hand. In addition there will be a summer merchandise sale.

The Falcons will be auctioning off the 2005-2006 season game worn white jerseys worn throughout the National Conference Finals. Proceeds from the auction will benefit the Poverello House.

Jim Connell, Executive Director of the Poverello House said, "The Fresno Falcons have been very supportive of Poverello House, and we are grateful to be the beneficiaries of the Falcons' Summer Blast ‘Hockey vs. Hunger' event. This comes at a good time for Poverello, because our donations diminish in the summer. The food collected will be used to feed hungry families that come to our doors." In 2005 the Poverello House served a total of 391,377 meals to homeless people in Fresno.

Bring your in-line skates and hockey gear and participate in a roller hockey clinic and receive pointers from the Falcons coaching staff and players.

Season tickets for the 2006-2007 season are on sale. Guarantee yourself great seats to 36 action-packed Falcons home games at the Save Mart Center! For more information contact the Falcons front office at (559) 485-PUCK.
