Hockey Rocks at the Richmond Coliseum in Five Days

Professional hockey is not only alive, well and wearing RiverDogs jerseys but in 5-days the ice at the Richmond Coliseum will heat-up with a between periods Battle of the Bands as regional acts compete for best-band honors while the ‘Dogs take on the Danbury Trashers. "The event will combine the best in pro sports and regional music talent under one roof," according to Ed Cook, General Manager of the Richmond RiverDogs. "The 1st Annual RiverDogs Battle of the Bands will set a new benchmark in fan entertainment."

"We have an impressive list of sponsors for this event, including Guitar World, Sam Ash, Richmond Harley Davidson, OldGlory.com Red Rocket Merchandising and Modelogic," stated Garrison Leykam, Director. "We are also proud to be giving back a part of this event to the community by donating a portion of the proceeds to VH1 Save the Music."

The bands competing this Saturday at 7:35 are The Rachel Leyco Band, In-Session, 59H20 and Copper Sails. Judging their performance along with the fans will be Scott Givens (RCA Records), Michele Morgan (professional model and President of the Queen of Hearts Foundation), Peter Nussbaum (Wolff & Samson), Felix Sebacious (Bravado Merchandising) and Ray Garcia (Roadrunner Records).

The winning band prizes include a custom merchandising package from Red Rocket Merchandising, studio time from In Your Ear Music and Recording Services, an acoustic/electric "jazz box" guitar from Sam Ash Music, $1000 worth of guitar strings from Everly Music and the opportunity to open for a national act at Innsbrook After Hours.

"The entrance to the Coliseum that evening will have classic cars, a huge sky tracker light and models handing out sponsor giveaways to the fans," said Kevin Brooks, Assistant General Manager. "On the concourse will be Harley-Davidson motorcycles, tables for the competing bands to offer their merchandise to the fans, and lots more. At the end of the game, specially-designed jerseys will be auctioned off and there will be an open skate with the RiverDogs players. This is one event no one should miss."
