Hitmen Prepare For First NAHL Draft

On Wednesday afternoon at 1pm CST the Chicago Hitmen will participate in the teams first ever NAHL Entry Draft. Team Owner and President, Mark Hammersmith, will make the calls for his team, and he will draft 15 young men over the course of the afternoon. Hammersmith says about the process,
"Being our first draft in the league, months of identification and preparation has gone into this. We identified players we chose to tender and then came our predaft camp on May 14th. The talent level was so high at our predraft camp we had many additions to our draft list just in the last two weeks."
On May 14th at the International Ice Center in Romeoville, IL; the Hitmen held a predraft tryout camp. There were 114 players assembled, hoping to earn a chance to play in the all-star games at the end of the camp with the goal of being added to the teams draft list or to receive an invite to final training camp which begins on July 28th. According to Hammersmith, The Hitmen have an extensive draft list and are excited to add this group of players to those who are already tendered. He adds," We have players from all over North America identified, along with some quality local talent we saw at our predraft. After tomorrows draft, I expect to have a very talented, competitive group put together who will no doubt come to training camp and make it difficult for us to decide on a final roster."
Fresh off the heels of the Robertson Cup Championship Tournament, the North American Hockey League (NAHL) is readying for its 2010 Entry Draft, which will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 1 p.m. CST. There is no registration process to be eligible for the NAHL Entry Draft, and the results will be posted on NAHL.com.
