Detroit Hitmen News Release
The Detroit Hitmen are happy to have earned their first point of this season on Friday night against the Battle Creek Revolution. In a close game, the Revolution scored at the 1:02 mark of the first period, and Detroit's Matt Mosley tied it up midway through the first. Ryan Webb netted his first of two with 1:05 left to go to give the Hitmen a lead, but it wouldn't hold long as the Revolution's Kye Moje scored his second of the night with just 22 seconds left in the period.
The Hitmen trailed after two by a score of 4-3 with Ryan Webb getting his second of the night in the second period and Battle Creek adding two more.
The Revolution scored again within the first two minutes of a period in the third for a two goal lead, but the Hitmen's Scott O'Connor answered just 54 seconds after to get the Hitmen within one. Matt Mosley scored his second at the 9:34 mark to tie the game which would end up going into overtime, securing the Hitmen's first point.
Overtime ended without a winner and the game moved to a shoot out. Harvey and Mosley shot for Detroit with Harvey being stopped and Mosley scoring, but all three Revolution players beat goaltender Matt Kinsella to get the win in the shoot out.
"I'm proud of my team for getting that point, but we want more. This team continues to improve and play well together, and we look forward to a great rest of the season." Said Matt Wiedenhoeft, the Detroit Hitmen head coach.
The Hitmen broadcast team was also there for the game. The Radio and Video Voice of the Detroit Hitmen, Steve Gralewski had this to say.
"This game was worth the trip to BC (Battle Creek). We had a great time Friday night and we got to see a great hockey game. We got a chance to sit in the stands tonight and cheer on our boys and be loud, so to me at least it was something special."
The Hitmen will finish this week up with a game in Chicago on Saturday and in Chi Town on Sunday. The Hitmen will be back on home ice Friday the 27th to take on the Battle Creek Revolution, puck drops at 8:15pm. Fridays all season long are $1.00 Beer Night at Great Lakes Sports City for Hitmen Games, so come root on your team for great money saving entertainment.
