Detroit Hitmen News Release

The Detroit Hitmen faced the Battle Creek Revolution Friday night at Great Lakes Sports City and for the second time in a row these two teams have gone to a shoot out.

Detroit's AJ Sanders got the Hitmen's first goal early in the first period and Ryan Webb scored with 8:47 left in the first to give the Hitmen a 2 to 0 lead. The Hitmen out played the Revolution the entire first period.

With about three minutes gone in the 2nd, Battle Creek's Joe Gerbe got the only goal of the 2nd to bring the Revs within one.

The majority of the action came in the 3rd as Battle Creek tied the game at 2-2 just 2:23 into the period. With action going from end to end the fans in attendance and watching live on StreamNet Sports were treated to an exciting 3rd. With a great pass from Brett Aimone, Charles Harvey ripped one past goaltender Chris Joswiak with just 1:53 remaining. The Revolution never gave up, as they pulled Joswiak with about 18 seconds remaining, somehow Nick Bet slipped one past Matt Kinsella with virtually no time left, 1 tenth of a second to tie the game and force an overtime.

Overtime ended without a winner and the two teams went to the shoot out. Detroit newcomer Josh Laliberte shot first with no luck. Ryan Bond of Battle Creek scored on Kinsella, and Matt Mosley was stopped on Detroit's second attempt forcing Matt Kinsella to make a save on the Revolutions Kye Moje. As Moje shot, Kinsella stopped the puck and it went up and over the goal, hit the glass, and bounced back over the net behind Matt Kinsella and rolled in the goal. The referee declared it a goal on the ice, but after some conferring with Kinsella and Webb, the linesmen and referee came to the right decision and call a "no goal". With new life, Ryan Webb attempted to tie the shootout, but Joswiak came up with a pad save to ensure the second point for the Revolution.

Detroit goes to 0-9-0-2 on the season and look for their first win on Saturday in Evansville as they take on the Icemen. Puck drops at 7:45 CENTRAL time. Detroit comes back home on Friday December 4th and Saturday December 5th to take on the Madison Ice Muskies at Great Lakes Sports City.
