Hilt's Homers Power Bears Past Aquasox Tuesday

The Yakima Bears defeated the Everett Aquasox 5-3 Tuesday at Yakima County Stadium thanks to two home runs from outfielder Justin Hilt. The Bears improved to 2-5 in the second half of the Northwest League season.
The Bears opened the scoring in the second inning with two doubles and two Everett errors to produce two runs.
The lead would be lost after a run in the second and two in the sixth by the Aquasox.
Hilt became the difference after that. After Carter Bell reached on a single in the bottom of the sixth, Hilt hit a towering home run to left field to put the Bears in front. Hilt added an insurance run in the eighth inning when he led off with another moonshot to left.
The Aquasox were mostly kept in check by the Bears pitching staff. Bears starter Alex Capual went a season-long seven innings and allowed three runs in earning his second win of the season. Sammy De Los Santos picked up his first save of the season by pitching a pair of 1-2-3 innings.
The Bears offense outhit the Aquasox 10-6 and was helped by five Everett errors. Hilt finished the night 3-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs, and three runs scored. First baseman Tyler Bream also had his best night at the plate in 2011, going 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, and a run scored.
The Bears and Aquasox continue the five-game series with game two Wednesday at Yakima County Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05. Lefty John Pedrotty is expected to start for the Bears, while right-handed pitcher Jordan Pries is slated to start for the Aquasox.
