The Green Bay Gamblers announced on Wednesday the hiring of Blake Hietala as the team's assistant coach. Hietala replaces Grant Arnold, who returned to his native Colorado to pursue other opportunities. Heitala will work directly with the forwards and head the team's video department.

Hietala comes to the Gamblers after spending the previous year with the Madison Capitols. The Houghton, Michigan native assumed the role of assistant coach and Director of Scouting with the Capitols.

As a player, Hietala played three seasons with the Michigan Tech Huskies (2012-15). After graduation, Hietala played 96 professional games, splitting time between the East Coast Hockey League and Southern Professional Hockey League. Hietala retired as a player in 2017.

"Blake is extremely professional and driven," says Gamblers Head Coach/General Manager Pat Mikesch. "He has a great understanding of the game and relates very well with players at the USHL level.

The 25th season of Gamblers hockey begins Friday, October 5, as the team welcomes the Sioux City Musketeers to the Resch Center. Season tickets and flex packs are available by contacting Greg Lynch at 405-1150. Single-game tickets go on sale, Tuesday, September 4.
