Hewitt Named UHL Goaltender of the Week
November 12, 2003 - United Hockey League (UHL)
Columbus Stars News Release
Netminder earns Stars' first shutout, posts 2-1 record and 1.67 GAA
After shutting out the Rockford IceHogs and gaining his third and fourth wins of the year over the weekend, Columbus Stars' netminder Greg Hewitt has been named the United Hockey League's Goaltender of the Week for Week Three of the 2003-2004 season.
Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Malcolm Cameron likes Hewitt's style of play that shows in his preparations as well. Hewitt was the number one goaltender for Cameron with the Cincinnati Cyclones in the ECHL last season.
"Greg is the most competitive guy I have ever come across in hockey," Cameron said. "Whether it is a game or practice, Hewitt never wants to see a puck in the net."
The Stars face Rockford tomorrow (Wednesday) in a 7:00 p.m. face off at the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum. Hewitt is likely to be rematched with fellow London, ONT native Ronnie Vogel who made 35 saves in keeping the IceHogs in the game Saturday night, won by Hewitt and the Stars, 2-0.
The Stars will have their morning skate at 10:00 a.m., with Rockford following at 11:00 a.m. Please call Packy Moran with any questions or for parking directions. 614/985-7827 (ofc) 937/238-4268 (cel).
The Stars are also in action in the Ohio Expo Center Coliseum Friday night at 7:00 p.m. with the Missouri River Otters and Sunday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. with the Adirondack IceHawks.
